Animation studios, like movie studios, may be production facilities, or financial entities. In some cases, especially in Anime they continue the tradition of a studio where a Master or group of talented individuals oversee the work of lesser artists and crafts persons in realising their vision. Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement. It is an optical illusion of motion due to the phenomenon of persistence of vision, and can be created and demonstrated in a number of ways. The most common method of presenting animation is as a motion picture or video program, although several other forms of presenting animation also exist.
Animation can sometimes refer to a way of activating a community, i.e. animatingthe users. This means actions which encourages users to interact with a given service and is connected to moderation. Digital models manipulated by an animator. In order to manipulate a mesh, it is given a digital armature (sculpture). This process is called rigging. Various other techniques can be applied, such as mathematical functions (ex. gravity, particle simulations), simulated fur or hair, effects such as fire and water and the use of Motion capture to name but a few. Many 3D animations are very believable and are commonly used as special effects for recent movies.
On October 1, 1946 a northeast motion picture studio was established in the Nenjiang province known today as the Heilongjiang province. It is the first known studio established by a communist party. In 1948 the Northeast studio would change name to Shanghai picture studio group. On October 1, 1949, China would enter a new communist era led by Mao Zedong. In February 1950 the northeast group would combine with other divisions to become the predecessor of the early stages of the studio. The Wan brothers, Central Academy of Fine Arts, the Art Institute of Suzhou and many other big name artists would all be concentrated in this studio for the first time.
In April 1957 the central government would begin sponsoring the studio making it the nation's first and official animation factory. In 1961 and 1964 the Wan brothers would receive the most recognition for their film Havoc in Heaven. China would be at the height of the animation golden era, becoming well respected internationally. In 2000, Pip did some work on the animated series Anne of Green Gables, in conjunction with Sullivan Entertainment's animation studio. Pip was specifically responsible for the digital backgrounds of certain episodes Pip did work on a couple of shows for the Amberwood Productions studio. The first was the Katie and Orbie television program. They were responsible for the background colors and the unit background designs for the show. The studio also did work on their show Hoze Houndz.
For Nelvana studios, Pip did work on the television series Maggie and the Ferocious Beast, which was broadcast on Nickelodeon and Teletoon. PiP Animation Services Inc. is a full service animation studio located in Ottawa, Canada. Its current work includes the Teletoon series Carl Squared, the CBC series The Secret World of Og and the WNET series Cyberchase. In 1999, Pip partnered with imX communications Inc., and Funbag Animation Studios Inc. to announce two new animation production companies: Helix Animation Inc. in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Helix Digital Inc. in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Helix Animation began working in July of 1999, and Helix Digital officially opened its doors for business in June of 2000.
