We have a mixed bag of questions today including Google page rank, Flash, and how to set up a catalogue on your site. Now onto the questions.

Question #1: I have a question about page ranking for a squeeze page and a branding site. When you speak about page ranking are you typically referring to a squeeze page? Should we be concerned about the ranking of both a squeeze page and branding site or not?

Answer: Page rank for your site doesn't really mean much. It's fun to brag about, but doesn't do much for you. Don't base your decisions around your own page rank. The goal is to find other people's websites that have page rank and have them link to your site.

If you have a page rank of 3, 5, 6, or 7 it doesn't mean much. Google changes page ranks at odd times. You don't have to be overly concerned with page rank. For example, I have low page rank sites that are high up in the search engine results. So page rank is not as big a deal as people make it out to be.

Question #2: I have a question about Flash pictures and Flash text. How does Flash affect pictures and text on a squeeze page and a branding site?

Answer: I've never used Flash pictures and Flash text. I do know that regular pictures you can put Alt tags on them. I don't even play with Flash. It seems unnecessary and not as effective in Internet marketing.

Question #3: I want to put a catalogue on one of my websites offering a lot of training materials and seminar kits that I have published. I have AutoResponse Plus, KickStart Cart, a squeeze page, branding site, and several blogs. What is the best way to do this? Is there a standard software or template that I should use?

I own domain names for most of the books and will ultimately have a longer sales page for each, but for now I would just like to get something up with eBook covers, eBook descriptions, and connect to the shopping cart. Would this be something expensive to outsource? I have copy from a print catalog and eBay store that could be used for starters.

Answer: This is a big task. If you outsource this task to somebody in the United States then it will be expensive. If you can outsource it overseas then it will be less expensive.

Where I see a true catalogue shopping area on the website would be more on a branding site. On your branding site have product category pages and descriptions. When you outsource this make mockups to show the freelancer how you want them to create the catalogue on the branding site.
